Notes: | An intense scene of fishermen struggling in a coastal squall by Shiro Kasamatsu. Finely overprinted streaks of rain and bokashi shading. This print is a rare first edition, as indicated by the printing of the date in the lower left margin. This date seal was carved off the woodblock after the first edition. Also in the left margin are Unsodo publisher's seal, Shinmi printer's seal, Nagashima carver's seal, and Unsodo watermark. Kasamatsu Japanese signature and red seal at lower right of image. The mark in the right margin and the cut-out in the bottom right corner (known as a 'kento cut') are due to the printing process. |
