Condition:Colours very good. A 10mm tear in the left-hand margin slightly into the image area. Mica sprinkled on the figure, solid silver mica background, shomenzuri/karazuri (embossing). Natural age toning.

Notes:Very rare example of the publisher Watanabe's pre-earthquake strike of a Sharaku 'o-kubi-e' (bust portrait) of a kabuki actor. The blocks for this print were destroyed during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. Contains the Watanabe 6mm seal in the image area. Sharaku's signature reads "Toshusai Sharaku ga".
