Bijin in Red Kimono
by Kiyokata, Kaburagi (1886-1972) - 鏑木清方
|Artist:||Kiyokata, Kaburagi (1886-1972) - 鏑木清方|
|Title:||Bijin in Red Kimono (1)|
|Date:||1930s--60s (this artwork: 1930s--60s)|
|Medium:||Scroll/Makuri roll - 掛軸ーまくり|
|Format:||Double Oban - 特大版, 51 x 41cm|
|Condition:||Fine condition. Beautiful mica finish (see image below). Tiny hole repaired probably by the artist, basically invisible from the front. A few faint creases, otherwise fine. What appears to be water stains in the background is simply the background wash.|
|Notes:||Gorgeous bijin-ga 'makuri' (painting on a fine rolled paper), hand-painted on very fine washi paper by Kaburagi Kiyokata, one of the most eminent painters of 'bijin-ga' (paintings of beautiful women) in the early shin-hanga period (1920s/30s/40s). Very rare and obviously one-of-a-kind.
