Sales Gallery 3 (Ukiyo-e and Meiji-era Artists)

During my woodblock print collecting 'career' I have gathered many prints, and like any serious collector I have found my collecting interests have gradually changed -- having become more focused on a select number of artists. As such, I now have prints that I feel fall outside of my collecting goals, and they are presented below. Also presented are prints that I have sourced from auctions here in Japan. By the way, Ohmi Gallery is not a business or commercial enterprise, and therefore the prints below are being sold on a private basis. All prices are in US dollars.

As a buyer of prints, I like to see high-resolution scans of any prints that interest me, before deciding whether to make a purchase. A large scan will immediately reveal many of the possible condition problems that woodblock prints suffer from, and will allow the buyer to better determine the 'value' or 'worth' of the print, whether in an artistic or monetary sense. Therefore as a seller, I have provided very high resolution scans of all of the prints below, via links in the item's description page. Note: When viewing a large scan, to view the scan at full resolution users of Internet Explorer 6 and above may need to click on the 'image expand' pop-up icon that appears in the bottom right corner of each large image (hold your mouse curser over the image for a few seconds).

Ando Hiroshige - Album Of Bird and Flower Prints

Snowy Heron Pheasant Swallows Sparrows
Snowy Heron Pheasant Swallows Sparrows
Presented here is a set of four Ando Hiroshige kacho-e (flower and bird) prints, originally published in 1832. Each print is in mitsugiri-sized format of 15.5 x 7.5 inches and is tip-mounted to its own windowed folder. The four prints and folders are held nicely in a green-coloured album with series title and gold embossing. This lovely album was published for the Sumitomo Bank by Takamizawa Ukiyo-e Company in the 1980s, and given to special customers of the bank. The contents of this beautiful album include:
  • Four finely printed mitsugiri-sized kacho-e woodblock prints;
  • Full descriptions of each scene in English;
  • Windowed folder housing and protecting each print;
  • Sturdy album to protect and hold the print set;
