During my woodblock print collecting 'career' I have gathered many prints, and like any serious collector I have found my collecting interests have gradually changed -- having become more focused on a select number of artists. As such, I now have prints that I feel fall outside of my collecting goals, and they are presented below. Also presented are prints that I have sourced from auctions here in Japan. By the way, Ohmi Gallery is not a business or commercial enterprise, and therefore the prints below are being sold on a private basis. All prices are in US dollars. As a buyer of prints, I like to see high-resolution scans of any prints that interest me, before deciding whether to make a purchase. A large scan will immediately reveal many of the possible condition problems that woodblock prints suffer from, and will allow the buyer to better determine the 'value' or 'worth' of the print, whether in an artistic or monetary sense. Therefore as a seller, I have provided very high resolution scans of all of the prints below, via links in the item's description page. | Yasuko Ohnishi (born 1942) Yasuko Ohnishi is both a woodblock print artist and a novelist. Yasuko first became a woodblock print artist in 1972, exhibiting her unique style of 'gendai hanga' (modern prints) with various Japanese art associations. In 1977 she became an independent artist and started long associations with numerous overseas galleries, exhibiting her prints in Germany, America, London, and Australia. | Chen Yongle (born 1954) Chen Yongle was born in the Yunan Province of China in 1954. He is currently the President of the Yunnan Research Institute of Fine Art, and is a member of various art organisations and committees including the Chinese Artists Association, the Chinese Graphic Artists Association, and the Association of the Artists of Chinese Craft and Art. Chen Yongle's prints have been exhibited at many international events and his works can be seen at Fine Art Museums in Asia (China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong), the USA, and Europe (France, Belgium, Holland, Germany).

| Hao Ping (born 1952) Hao Ping was born in the Yunan Province of China in 1952. In 1980 he graduated from the Department of Fine Art at Yunan Art College, and in 1986 from the Central Fine Art College. He has been a member of various art organisations and committees including the National Youth Print Grand Exhibition, the Chinese Fine Artist Association, and the Chinese Print Artist Association. Hao Ping's prints have been exhibited at many international events and his works can be seen at Fine Art Museums in China, the USA, Japan, and Europe. As with other Chinese print artists, Hao Ping's woodblock prints are characterised first and foremost by their square format and large size. Most are close to 70 x 70cm in dimension but several of his prints reach 90 x 90cm. This, coupled with his use of bright colours, often via 15 colour blocks, produce spectacular scenes via his unique melding of the traditional woodblock technique with the modern medium of oil/acrylic pigments. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Lu Min (born 1962)
Lu Min was born in 1962 in Kunming city. She graduated from the printmaking department of the Yunnan College of Arts and she is currently member of Chinese Artists' Association, Chinese Printmakers' Association, a painter at the Kunming Printmaking Institute. Lu Min is the director of the Kunming Art Association. Lu Min's works were produced by the woodblock reduction technique, so there can never be any further editions.

| Zhang Xiaochun (born 1959) Zhang Xiaochun was born in 1959 in Mojiang, Yunan Province , China. He graduated from the Simao Art School in 1980 and subsequently from the Yunan Fine Art Academy in 1984. He is a master of the rare art form called woodblock reduction prints. Using only a single woodblock to complete the entire print, the woodblock reduction technique was born of a small group of Yunan Province artists. While Japanese woodblock prints are produced by carving a separate woodblock for each represented colour, the reduction woodblock printing technique produces a similar result by sequentially recarving a single block -- one time for each colour represented in the image. After each recarving, the entire edition is restruck with the new colour. After the last reduction carving and printing, the now reduced woodblock is of no further use and is discarded. Because the size of each edition is usually very low, and because there is guaranteed not to ever be a second edition (because the woodblock is effectively destroyed by the reduction process) the worth of prints produced by this technique is generally much greater than similar sized prints completed via the more traditional multi-block method. Thus the purchase of a print produced by the woodblock reduction technique is a guaranteed investment that can never be devalued by later editions.
