Mt Koya in Kishu Province - 紀州高野山
by Tokuriki, Tomikichiro
|Title:||Mt Koya in Kishu Province - 紀州高野山|
|Series:||Scenes of Sacred Places and Historic Landmarks - 聖地史蹟名勝|
|Medium:||Watercolour - 水彩画|
|Format:||Oban - 大判, 38.3 x 26.6cm (image size)|
|Notes:||This is a rare and obviously one-of-a-kind watercolour used as the 'shita-e' (preparatory drawing) for the corresponding woodblock print from the series "Scenes of Sacred Places and Historic Landmarks". In early 2010 I was fortunate to be able to acquire 32 Tokuriki watercolours. No artist seal or signature.
The series was first published in Showa 16 (1941). See the full series from the first edition here.
